It’s only been 10 days, but the Greenwood Lady Bulldogs volleyball team has already been through the ringer, facing five Class 6A schools, a 5A top ten team, and an out-of-state power, posting a 3-5 record through this past Tuesday’s contest, including last Saturday’s tournament at Bentonville. The GHS girls will be off the rest of this week, using the practice time to improve before starting conference play next week against Van Buren and Alma.
Fayetteville
The Greenwood girls opened their 2026 volleyball campaign on Monday, August 24th, at Fayetteville against the Class 6A Lady Purple Dogs. The two squads meet annually to kick off their seasons, usually with mixed results, but this year the home team was dominant, winning in straight sets, 25-13, 25-17, and 25-14.
Statistically, the Fayetteville girls controlled the front line with 35 team kills to just 21 for Greenwood. Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was Riley Kaminshine with 13 kills. Rylee McAdams added four slams. Fayetteville had seven service aces to just two for Greenwood, one each by Kaminshine and McAdams. Fayetteville had five blocks at the net while Greenwood had two.
GHS sophomore Addison Hadaway led the visitors with 17 digs, followed by Riley Kaminshine with eight while Jordyn Pippin and Abrey Jurecka had five each. The Lady Bulldogs had just three team assists to 35 for the home team. Finally, Addison Hadaway led Greenwood with 21 service returns while Kaminshine had 11 and Jordyn Pippin had 10.
Mena
The next day the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Mena Lady Bearcats last Tuesday, August 25th, getting into the win column for the first time in 2026, winning in straight sets, 25-9, 26-17, and 25-13. Head Coach Jennifer Golden and her staff posted match stats for the Lady Bulldogs. No stats were available for the Class 4A Lady Bearcats.
At the net, Greenwood had 33 kill shots, led by a quartet of Lady Bulldogs. Riley Kaminshine and Rylee McAdams had eight kills each while Anniston Kennedy had seven slams and Emma Helms six. Defensively, Greenwood had just two blocks. But the Lady Bulldogs did have nine service aces, led by Abrey Jurecka with three. Rylee McAdams and Riley Kaminshine had two each.
On the back line, Addison Hadaway had 14 digs while Jurecka and Hadley Webb had nine saves each. Kaminshine also had seven digs. Webb led the team with 14 assists followed by Adeline Garner with seven and Addison Hadaway with four. Hadaway also led her teammates in service returns with 16. Riley Kaminshine had five and Abrey Jurecka had four.
Conway
Last Thursday the GHS ladies hosted another 6A power school, going five sets with the Lady Wampus Cats of Conway, winning 3-2 in a highly competitive match. The home team took the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-23, before the visitors roared back to take the next two sets, 23-25 and 18-25. With the match tied at 2-2, Greenwood took the fifth set, winning 18-16.
Offensively, Conway held a slight advantage at the net, winning the battle with 55 kills to 48 for Greenwood. Emma Helms had 17 for the Lady Bulldogs while Rylee McAdams had 13. Riley Kaminshine and Anniston Kennedy had eight slams each. The hometown ladies had six service aces, three by Riley Kaminshine. Also at the net, Greenwood had six total blocks, two each by Helms and McAdams.
Addison Hadaway led her GHS teammates in digs with 29, while three others also reached double-digits in saves. Abrey Jurecka had 14 digs with Jordyn Pippin (12) and Riley Kaminshine (11) close behind. Addi Webb led Greenwood in assists with 29 of the team’s total of 41. Four players reached double figures in service returns, headed by Addison Hadaway with 24, followed by Jordyn Pippin (19), Abrey Jurecka (16), and Emma Helms (12). Riley Kaminshine added nine returns.
Springdale Har-Ber
Last Saturday the Greenwood girls traveled north to Bentonville High School for the one-day Early Bird tournament, the first of four abbreviated matches. The Springdale Har-Ber Lady Wildcats won the match in two sets, outscoring Greenwood, 20-25 and 14-25. Har-Ber is a Class 6A school.
Greenwood had 21 total kills at the net, led by Emma Helms with eight and Rylee McAdams with six. The Lady Bulldogs had five total service aces spread among four players. Greenwood had no blocks in the shortened match but had 17 total digs, evenly distributed among Addison Hadaway (5), Riley Kaminshine (4), and Abrey Jurecka (4). Kaminshine also led in assists with 15 while Addison Hadaway led the team in service returns with 12. Emma Helms had nine, Anniston Kennedy had six, while Jordyn Pippin and Abrey Jurecka had four returns each.
Conway
Continuing tournament play, the Lady Bulldogs next faced the Lady Wampus Cats for the second time in three days after defeating Conway last Thursday, 3-2. But with Saturday’s shortened format it was Conway that came out on top, 2-1. The match was highly competitive, with Greenwood outscoring Conway overall in the contest, 58-57.
The Lady Wampus Cats won the opening set, 25-23, before dropping the second set to Greenwood, 25-17. But Conway rallied to win the third and deciding set, 15-10, to take the match. As one might expect from such a close contest, the post-match stats were also similar.
Offensively, Greenwood had 26 kill shots to 30 for Conway, but the Lady Bulldogs played better defense at the net with eight blocks to just one for the opposition. Ryleigh Smith and Emma Helms led the GHS girls in slams with seven and six, respectively. Rylee McAdams and Anniston Kennedy had four kills each. Smith also led in blocks with four while Addi Chaplin had three. Greenwood also had eight service aces, led by Rylee McAdams with five and Riley Kaminshine with two.
Along the back row, Greenwood had 44 total digs led by Addison Hadaway with 16 and Riley Kaminshine with 11. Jordyn Pippin and Abrey Jurecka had seven digs each. Two players accounted for all 19 of Greenwood’s assists. Adeline Garner had 10 and Kaminshine had nine. Jurecka and Pippin led the team in service returns with 13 and 12, respectively, followed by Addison Hadaway (6), Emma Helms (6), and Anniston Kennedy (5).
Little Rock Christian
Up next for the Lady Bulldogs last Saturday were the Lady Warriors of Little Rock Christian, ranked among the top ten Class 5A teams in the state. Yet Greenwood won the opening set, 25-23, before succumbing in set number two, 25-21. But the Lady Warriors were able to carry over that momentum, winning the third set, 15-11, to capture the match.
At the net, Greenwood had 35 kills, one less that LR Christian. Addi Chaplin led the Lady Bulldogs with nine slams, followed by Emma Helms with seven and Rylee McAdams and Anniston Kennedy with five each. Defensively at the net, Greenwood had two blocks. But the GHS ladies did have seven service aces, including two each by Kaminshine, Pippin, and Garner.
Addison Hadaway led her teammates with 14 digs while Riley Kaminshine had nine and Jordyn Pippin six. Kaminshine also led the team in assists with 16 while Adeline Garner had 13. Addison Hadaway had 22 service returns while Pippin had 11 and Abrey Jurecka had nine. Kaminshine added five returns.
Blue Springs (MO) South
Greenwood’s final tournament opponent was the Lady Jaguars of Blue Springs, Missouri. The match was close, but after a long day of competition, it was the girls from the Show Me State who took the two-set match, 25-22 and 25-17. Greenwood had just 14 kill shots compared to 24 for Blue Springs. Four Lady Bulldogs had three slams each. They were Riley Kaminshine, Addi Chaplin, Rylee McAdams, and Emma Helms. Kaminshine added a pair of service aces and had one of Greenwood’s three blocks at the net.
Defensively, Addison Hadaway led her teammates with nine digs while Abrey Jurecka had five and Riley Kaminshine had four. Adeline Garner had six assists while Kaminshine had four. Addison Hadaway led the squad with 11 service returns while Jordyn Pippin had five.
Little Rock Central
Finally, the Lady Bulldogs returned to regularly scheduled action at home this past Tuesday evening, hosting the Class 6A Little Rock Central Lady Tigers in what turned out to be a barnburner of the match. After dropping the first two sets by a combined 15 points, 19-25 and 16-25, Greenwood roared back to win the next three sets, 25-15, 25-17, and 15-10 to earn the victory, 3-2. The win improved the Lady Bulldogs’ early season record to 3-5 overall, but 3-1 in non-tournament matches.
No stats were available for the Central ladies, but the Greenwood girls had 55 kill shots, led by a trio of front-line players, Riley Kaminshine (16) and Emma Helms and Rylee McAdams with 10 each. Addi Chaplin added eight slams, Ryleigh Smith six, and Anniston Kennedy with five kills. Greenwood added six service aces, two each by Kaminshine, Garner, and McAdams. The Lady Bulldogs had four total blocks, two by Ryleigh Smith.
Addison Hadaway had 22 of Greenwood’s 62 digs, followed by Jordyn Pippin and Abrey Jurecka with nine each and Adeline Garner with eight. Kaminshine had five digs while Anniston Kennedy and Emma Helms had three each. Garner also led in assists with 17, exactly half of Greenwood’s total of 34. Riley Kaminshine had 14 assists. Three GHS players reached double digits in service returns, led by Hadaway with 34 and Pippin and Jurecka with 21 returns each.
