The 2015 high school golf season is now fully underway, with Greenwood racking up a series of victories starting last week at Fort Smith's Ben Geren course and continuing through this past Tuesday at Greenwood's Vache Grasse Country Club. The team is coach by Ronnie Williams.

The GHS girls are the defending 6A state champs, and are among the favorites to repeat this fall. The GHS boys are very young, with only three upper classmen and eight freshman or sophomores on the roster, but are making significant strides in the early going.

This past Tuesday, under near perfect weather conditions, the Greenwood boys combined for a 9-hole total of 153 to defeat both Springdale (220) and Dover (177) in a three-way match at Vache Grasse.

The low round for Greenwood was carded by the team's lone senior, Ryan Reagan, who fired an even par 36. Freshman Evan Griffith wasn't far behind at 37. Sophomore Nathan Munday shot a 39, while junior Wyatt Blevins (41) and sophomore Houston Sowell (41) rounded out the scoring.

The Lady Bulldogs (123) defeated Dover's girls (144), who are now coached by former Greenwood golfer Megan Kelley. The low round for Greenwood was turned in by sophomore Sydnie Gamble, who carded a 9-hole total of 38. Also competing for Greenwood were senior Lexie Adams (42), senior Molly Lynch (43), junior Marleigh Glasgow (49), and sophomore Sarah Beth Moore (55).

On Tuesday, August 18th, the Greenwood boys (164) defeated Fort Smith Southside (188) at Ben Geren, while the Lady Bulldogs (133) lost to Southside (113).

Low rounds for GHS boys were scored by Nathan Munday and freshman Bradley Brotherton, who both fired a 9-hole total of 40. Evan Griffith and Ryan Reagan each shot 42. For the Greenwood girls, the low rounds were turned in by Lexie Adams (40), Sydnie Gamble (42) and Molly Lynch (51).

Last Thursday, August 20th, the Greenwood boys (153) defeated Alma (183) in their first match this season at Vache Grasse Country Club. Alma only had one female golfer, so Greenwood won the girls match also.

Scoring for the GHS boys included Evan Griffith (35), Nathan Munday (39), Ryan Reagan (39), Bradley Brotherton (40), Houston Sowell (43) and Wyatt Blevins (44).

For the Lady Bulldogs, Sydnie Gamble shot a 39, Lexie Adams carded a 41, Molly Lynch scored a 45, Marleigh Glasgow came in at 60, and Sarah Beth Moore at 61.

The next matches (18 holes) for both Greenwood squads will be this Thursday, August 27th, against Siloam Springs at Vache Grasse Country Club.
