Last Friday the Diamond ‘Dogs bested another group of Bulldogs, this one from Springdale, notching a 6-3 late-inning victory over the 7A school in non-conference play.

Greenwood led early, 2-0 after two innings and 3-1 after three. But Springdale tied the game with two runs in the top of the fifth before an error opened the gates for a three-run GHS rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Landry Jurecka reached on the misplay and scored on an RBI triple by catcher Jake Smith, who then scored on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Chance Eoff. A base hit by Jackson Webb was followed by a wild pitch, a catcher’s interference call, and a walk to load the bases. Another sac fly, this one by Peyton Holt, pushed across the third run of the inning.

Besides his RBI in the sixth, Eoff made a potential game-saving, diving catch with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, likely preventing two or three Springdale runs from scoring.

Blake Pschier started on the mound for Greenwood and pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by Isaac Schwartz, who got the win. Pschier allowed seven hits, five walks, and two earned runs with eight strikeouts. Schwartz gave just one hit, no walks, and no runs.

Offensively, Jackson Webb and Brandon Woolsey both had two hits apiece. Eoff drove home two runs, while Holt, Smith, Pschier, and Webb accounted for the other RBIs.
