Greenwood Cross Country has Three Runners Finish in Top 20 at State Meet

The Greenwood Bulldogs' and Lady Bulldogs' cross country teams traveled to Hot Springs last Friday to compete in the 5A state meet, where they had three runners finish in the top 20. Th event was held at Oaklawn Park.

The Greenwood girls finished eighth overall in the meet behind first place Siloam Springs, with the GHS boys placing 13th behind first place Lake Hamilton.

Greenwood junior Taylor Koeth finished fourth in the girls' event with a time of 20:52.70. Sophomore teammate Macie Cash came in sixth place, finishing with a time of 21:03.90.

The Bulldogs also had a top 20 finisher in the 5A individual portion, with senior Nathaniel Gonzales placing 14th with a time of 17:50.40. Sophomore Nick Lewis came in 24th with a time of 18:08.60.

“I am really proud of them," said GHS Head Coach Jim Andrews. "It was a tough, wet course, but they did well. I was happy for the outcome of the girls race with Taylor and Macie, finishing fourth and sixth.

"The guys' field was tough, but I felt both of my top runners did well, with Nathan [Gonzales] earning all-state honors and Nick [Lewis] finishing 24th," said the coach.
