GHS wrestlers to open season next week

The varsity wrestling season is about to open for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs with the sanctioning of female wrestlers for the first time in the state of Arkansas. Greenwood has two girls who have joined the ranks, Delia Lawson and Autumn McEver, both sophomores.

“We begin our season on Thursday, December 12th, at home with Rogers and Rogers Heritage in the PE Gym,” said Head Coach John Kincade. “The following Friday and Saturday we will be at the Van Buren Dual Tournament.”

On December 16th the Bulldogs will host Bentonville, then four days later, on Friday and Saturday, December 20-21, they will compete in a tournament event in Fayetteville.

“We do have a good core of wrestlers returning from last year's Dual State champions,” said Coach Kincade. “Our motto this year is to ‘Finish It’.

“We have three [individual] state champions (Hayden Rofkahr, Ty Moose, Colton Tuck) and a state runner-up (Tyler Crossno) returning [this season] along with Gustavo Martinez (3rd), Garrett Haralson (6th), Tatum Sadler(6th), Sam Johnson (3rd), and Garrett Newman (4th), who all were on the podium. We placed in 11 of the 14 weight classes,” added the coach.
