GHS Golfers Face Multiple Opponents

The Greenwood High School golf teams have been busy through the first week-and-a-half of the new school year, facing a host of foes including Fort Smith Southside, Alma, Springdale, and Dover, and the results have been quite favorable to the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs.

Last Tuesday, August 16th, Greenwood hosted class 7A Southside at Vache Grasse Country Club. The Bulldogs defeated the Mavericks, while the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Southside girls.

Low rounds for the GHS boys were Nathan Munday (36), Evan Griffith (39), Houston Sowell (41), Wyatt Blevins (43), and Bradley Brotherton (43). Scores for the Lady Bulldogs included Sydnie Gamble (40), Ella Austin (51), and Jordyn Lane (56).

Two days later, on August 18th, Greenwood faced Alma at Ben Geren Park in Fort Smith, winning both halves of the competition. Leading scorers for the boys were Evan Griffith (38), Nathan Munday (40), Houston Sowell (41), and Wyatt Blevins (42). For the girls, Sydnie Gamble shot a 38 to lead Greenwood.

The Greenwood boys (148) handily defeated Dover (195) and Springdale (199) in a match at Vache Grasse this past Tuesday. The Bulldogs were led by Evan Griffith (34), Nathan Munday (37), Wyatt Blevins (38), and Houston Sowell (39).

The Lady Bulldogs (138) defeated Dover (157) in the same match. Greenwood was led by Sydnie Gamble (37), Jordyn Lane (50), and Ella Austin (51).

Greenwood's next match is this Thursday against Siloam Springs at Vache Grasse. The two teams are coached by Ronnie Williams.
