It's been a hectic few days on the GHS campus, with several youth sports camps taking place amid last week's intermittent rain and the ongoing construction of the new freshman center and the improvements taking place at Smith-Robinson Stadium. Still more camps are scheduled for later this month.

The Bulldogs' football team hosted a major team camp last Thursday featuring teams from Russellville, Pulaski Academy, Fort Smith Northside, and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A thunderstorm forced the teams indoors for the beginning of the camp, but they were able to finish outdoors.

There were also youth camps for girls softball, boys basketball, and wrestling, with each camp holding sessions over a two day period, except for wrestling, which met for three days. GHS coaches and players assisted with the teaching and training activities, which were also attended by several parents.

Next week GHS head baseball coach Trey Holloway and his staff will host a camp for area youth ages 6-9 and 10-14. The camp will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14-15, with younger campers working out from 9-11 a.m. and the older campers going from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost of the camp is $50 per student.

On June 22-23, Lady Bulldogs head basketball coach Clay Reeves and his staff will be holding a youth camp for any girl entering the second through the seventh grades. The cost is $30 per student.

Grades 2-4 will meet daily from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the high school storm shelter, while the older girls will start at 12:30 p.m. and finish at 3:30 in H.B. Stewart Arena.

For more information about these camps and a copy of the registration forms, check the home page of the Greenwood Dog Pound website under "Summer Athletic Camps", or contact the athletic department at the district's administrative office located at 420 North Main Street.

Tyler Wilson Camp

Former Greenwood, University of Arkansas, and NFL quarterback Tyler Wilson will hold his third annual football camp at the GHS campus on Sunday, July 10th from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Besides Wilson himself, other notable instructors include collegiate and NFL players Zac Robinson, Jake Bequette, and Cobi Hamilton.

The camp caters to quarterbacks, wide receivers, kickers, and offensive and defensive linemen entering the 4th through 12th grades. Campers will receiver professional instruction, a camp tee-shirt, and an autograph session with athletes. The cost is $100 per camper.
