MORRILTON –  After losing a nail bitter to Shiloh Christian last week by one point the Bulldogs looked like a different team as the Greenwood defense completely dominated the game and shut out the Morrilton Devil Dogs in their own house Friday night.

Morrilton looked good on their opening drive making three first downs before turning the ball over on downs. Wilson would come out and throw an interception on the third play of the first possession for Greenwood. Morrilton would then come out and throw an interception of their own to Jared Morris who would run it out to their own 40 and a late hit would bring the ball to the Devil Dogs 45. The Bulldogs would go on to score a touch down on a seven-yard pass to Nathan Staton.

Morrilton would get the ball back but would not be able to keep it as the Greenwood defense would continue to pound the Devil Dog offense. Wilson would get the Bulldogs to within four yards and Matt Sindelar would break through to the end zone to put Greenwood up 14-0 in the first quarter.

Morrilton would take the kickoff, run three plays and punt. The Bulldogs would take the field and march into Devil Dog territory. Wilson would find Staton in the end zone for the second time for the last score of the half.

There would be no score for the third and most of the fourth quarter. Matt Sindelar would take over and lead the Bulldogs downfield and run the ball in himself with 3:47 left on the clock for the final score of the game.

"That was not a masterpiece," said Coach Rick Jones. "The difference is if you are on the defensive side of the ball that was a Van Gogh or a Rembrandt it was beautiful, that group of defensive guys played their hearts out. We turned the ball over four times in the first half and the defense slammed the door on them every time. They just fought, and fought and fought, that was the same group that gave up 49 last week. We don't sit around and feel sorry for ourselves around Greenwood we just try and get better."

The Bulldogs will be at home this week against Harrison. Kick off will be at 7:30 p.m. at Smith Robinson Stadium.

Come out and support the Bulldogs.
