GREENWOOD –  After beating Morrilton last week in a game dominated by the Bulldog defense Greenwood came out of gate shooting from both barrels in yet another shoot out, this time against Harrison. The smell of gunpowder seemed to hang in the air all night as score after score sent celebratory fire works into the night sky each time the Bulldogs broke into the endzone.

However it would be the Golden Goblins who would strike first in the opening quarter taking advantage of an early interception running the ball 41 yards to the end zone. Harrison would not get too comfortable, as the Bulldogs would march down field on their next possession. Coach Jones would have to make a tough decision on a 4th and 8 from the 23. Greenwood would go for it, and make the first down on a pass from Wilson to Staton to bring them within three yards. William Ridener would take it the rest of the way in to tie the game at seven.

Early on in the second the Bulldog defense would force the Goblins to turn the ball over on downs. Wilson would find Kyle Walter from the 44 yard line and Walter would run it all the way in for Greenwood. Harrison would then take the kick off to the Greenwood 35 yard line to set up a Goblin touchdown and make the score even 14-14.

Greenwood would answer back with a nice long run from Nathan Staton to bring the Bulldogs within 10 and great diving catch by Karson Brown to put the Bulldogs up by seven. McKnight would kick the ball to the four-yard line on the kick off and the Goblins would not be able to get passed their own 10 and would be forced to punt. Wilson would find Nathan Staton for a 32-yard touch down to give the Bulldogs six more points as Greenwood would miss their point after attempt.

The Goblins would waste no time responding to the Greenwood touch down with one of their own to make the score 27-21. But Wilson and Staton would connect one more time before the half for a 44-yard touchdown to make the half time score 33-21 after failing on the two-point conversion. Staton caught seven passes for 173 yards and two TDs in the first half alone.

The scoring would continue in the second as the Goblins would make an interception and run it 55 yards for a TD to cut into the Bulldog lead. William Ridener would keep the Bulldogs out in front with an eleven yard run into the end zone for Greenwood. The Bulldogs would try and make the two point conversion to make the score 41-28.

Greenwood would force the Goblins to punt on their next possession. Travis Sandifer would then make a great return setting up yet another Bulldog touchdown from Wilson to Staton. Greenwood then made another two-point conversion. The Goblins would score once more before the end of the game, but it would be too little too late. "We have a lot of respect for Harrison, we knew by watching film that they were going to be tough and they were," said Coach Rick Jones. "They can bring that big fullback up the middle and they can throw it on the outside. They can give you a lot of problems and we had a hard time stopping those guys."

Tyler Wilson ended the game completing 21 of 28 for 327 yards and five touchdowns. Ridener finished with 251 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Nathan Staton ended up with nine catches for 211 yards and three touchdowns Next week will be Homecoming as the Bulldogs take on Vilonia Friday night at Smith Robinson Stadium.
