Greenwood Wins Conference Opener

Pictures Below By: Kim Singer 9-21-07 It might not have been the prettiest 38-7 win Bulldog fans have ever saw, but it's a conference win and now the attention turns to what could be the conference championship game, next Friday night in Harrison. Greenwood took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after touchdown runs of 1-yard by Matt Sindelar and a 9-yard run by Jake Davidson, who got the start for the injured Trey Hopkins. The Greenwood defense pitched a shutout for the night allow just 115-yards. Morrilton's lone score came on an interception return. to begin the second quarter. Greenwood would tack on another 10 points in the second quarter. A 20-yard touchdown pass by Spencer Harris and a 34-yard field goal by Austin Hartness. Jake Davidson would add another 7, after another Austin Hartness PAT was good with 6:26 to go in the third quarter on a 11-yard run. Matt Sindelar would go in from 3-yards out to begin the fourth quarter to secure the 38-7 conference win over Morrilton. With the win, a new tradition was started after a Bulldog victory. The football team, lead by the seniors along with the band and students will now sing the fight song, instead of "Down by the River". Greenwood will make the trip up to Crooked Creek for the final time on Friday night, as Harrison's new multi-million dollar stadium is scheduled to be completed by early November.
