Yes, It's true the Bulldogs are Rock Bound Again and will face conference foe Morrilton at high noon on Saturday for the AAAA State Championship.
An estimated 6,400 fans watched the "Best from the West" (Greenwood) battled the "Beast from the East" (Wynne). They would not be disappointed as both teams battled like the heavy weight fighters that they are.
"I was so proud of our kids, what can you say they just made plays" said Bulldog head coach Rick Jones following the 25-24 win over Wynne.
"Our defense fought, they made the stop right before half-time, that was the biggest drive of the whole game, they gave us a chance to win it in the second half."
"Wynne is a tremendous football team," said Jones. "They're so fast, so athletic, so well coached it was a struggle the whole way, they gave us nothing easy."
It would be the second straight week that the Bulldogs would face an East team and a team running the Diamond T offense. In the East they don't like to throw the ball, especially at Wynne, 3 yards and a cloud of dust is their philosophy.
It was a defensive fight in the first half with Wynne only scoring one touchdown and being held to a field goal by the Bulldog defense.
Wynne's defense would do something not done all season, they held the Bulldog offense to just a field goal.
With their backs against the wall the Bulldogs came out with renewed focus in the second half and put together a long drive to start the second half that tied the game at 10-10 on a 15-yard touchdown reception to Kyle Walters from Daniel Stegall with 7:03 in the third quarter.
Wynne would answer quickly though taking the lead again actually catching the Bulldog defense off guard on a 80 yard pass play with 6:10 to go in the third quarter.
Down 17-10, and Wynne driving past mid-field in the fourth quarter, Nathan Staton jumped up to interception a Wynne pass and returned it 55-yards to tie the game at 17-17 with 9:43 to go in the game.
Wynne would use their patent offense to perfection again finding the end zone on a 32-yard run  with 5:39 to go in the game.
The Bulldog all but knew it was now or never with time running out, that this would probably be their final possession of the ball game.
Twice during the drive the Bulldogs were forced to go for it on 4th and inches, both times successful.
Daniel Stegall went in to bring the Bulldogs to within one 24-23 with 2:10 to go in the game.
Having already decided and told the team after their last touchdown that when they scored again they would go for two and the win, the Bulldog offense quickly reset for the two point conversion attempt.
Daniel Stegall took the snap and went right, looked back left and then threw a quick pass to Nathan Staton in front right corner of the end zone. Staton jumped up and away from a Wynne defender to bring down the pass and complete the two point conversion and give the Bulldogs their only lead of the night 25-24.
Wynne with under two minutes left in the game moved the ball to near mid-field with their running game, before trying to throw down field.
The throw down field would seal the deal for Greenwood as senior Cody Long came down with the Wynne pass.
Stegall would run the rest of the clock out.
Greenwood lost to Wynne last year in the State Championship game after failing to complete a two point conversion to tie the game. Bulldog head coach Rick Jones called it "Poetic Justice" in local newspapers on having beat Wynne on their home field by the two point play.
The Bulldog 12th Man was challenged to make the trip and make major noise and they did just that and estimated 2,000 Bulldog fans made the trip and the DEFENSE chant in the final moments of the game was the loudest ever.
For the second straight year Greenwood will play 14 games and play for the State Championship, congratulations to our players and coaches for all their hard work.
