The Bulldog Seniors will get one more home game on the field at Smith-Robinson Stadium thanks to the great play of the entire team in the first round playoff game against J.A. Fair.
The winner of the Greenwood/Marion game this Friday will travel to face the winner of the Wynne/Hope matchup.
Greenwood moved to 10-1 on the year with the 38-8 win over the J.A. Fair War Eagles in front of a full house home crowd.
Hooten's Arkansas Football's #1 ranked Bulldogs would not disappoint in the opening round of the AAAA State Playoffs as the Bulldog defense played one of their best games of the season holding Fair to just 20-yards of total offense in the first half with 19-yards passing and 1-yard rushing.
The Bulldog offense would strike early and often in the first quarter to build a 31-0 lead with a 12-yard reception from Daniel Stegall to Nathan Staton, a 25-yard field goal by Mason Knox, 44-yard catch by Kyle Walters from Stegall, 17-yard pass from Stegall to Cody Long and a 17-yard defensive fumble recovery as Nathan Staton scooped and scored. Mason Knox was perfect on the night kicking extra points.
Greenwood clicked in all parts of the game during the first half and with William Ridener's 1 yard run in for a touchdown early in the second quarter secured that the Mercy Rule would be envoked and the clock would run in the second half.
Greenwood put together 265-yards of total offense for the night, the lowest of the season. This was set up by having short field most of the night thanks to the defense and Fair's short punts.
Daniel Stegall rushed 7 times for 35-yards, while completing 10 of 12 passes for 150-yards and 3 touchdowns.
William Ridener rushed 7 times for 38-yards and Rocky McGee rushed 13 times for 27-yards.
Cody Long, Nathan Staton and Kyle Walters all got receiving touchdowns with Long with 2 catches for 43-yards, Staton 2 catches for 29-yards and Walters 1 catch for 43 yards.
This Friday's game will be the Grand Finale at Smith-Robinson Stadium for the 2005 season, get out and support your Bulldogs one more time at home as the 12th Man needs to be in Full Force for the Marion Patriots.
