Jones Sees Increase In FASDOG Numbers

Greenwood head football coach Rick Jones welcomed 306 to his 5 week strength and conditioning summer program this year. The FASDOGS program is open to all male and female athletes in grades 4-12.

Jones was pleased with the overall turnout up from last year, but will be looking for the varsity football participation to improve even more. “Varsity football participation was good, but not great,” said Jones. “We had fifteen guys though that didn't miss a day and that takes a great amount of commitment to do that, it's not just by accident. They have to shuffle vacations and shuffle this and shuffle that, so it's a big sacrifice. Then there's some that want to be here everyday, but for whatever reason can't. Church camp is always a good thing to do in the summer and that's fine. If they miss for Church camp I think that is great, some of my best weeks during the summer as a kid were at Church camp, so I don't have a problem with that at all.”

Those interested in the 2006 FASDOGS program can look to start signing up in the late spring of next year.
