The Greenwood football team completed their spring practice time on Wednesday afternoon after having five days in full pads.
Head Coach Rick Jones was encouraged with how his Bulldogs improved during the spring practices from day one to day five.
"The first couple of days it was really rough," said Coach Jones. "I know I probably had unrealistic expectations, but I've always been guilty of that. I have high expectations of this bunch."
The Greenwood football coaching staff used the spring practice time to evaluate players and will continue to do so over the summer and into the fall practices.
Coach Jones would like to find more players so that he doesn't have to play so many on both sides of the ball.
"I like to play as many guys as we possibly can," Jones said. "We have about 17 guys we feel really good about and about 6 that need to step-up and help us."
The Bulldogs will have the time between now and when fall practice starts to impress Coach Jones.
Instead of going to Muskogee for a team camp on Thursday, May 27th, Greenwood will host a team camp at Smith-Robinson Stadium from 4-7 PM with Fort Smith Southside and one other team.
Then on Saturday, May 29th the Bulldogs will spend the day at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma competing against a number of top programs in another team camp.
"We're going to have some opportunities to get better," said Jones. "It'll be a busy summer."
