Bulldogs Tangle With Rebels In 7 on 7
6-29-04 By: Brian Vaughn
After a three-week layoff from competitive 7 on 7 practices the Bulldog’s head coach Rick Jones was concerned his team would be really rusty going into the 7 on 7 with Southside. He however came out of it pleased with how they preformed overall.
Southside was up first on offense in the all-passing 7 on 7, but it didn’t take long for Greenwood to get their offense the ball picking off the Rebels first pass to start the 7 on 7.
"I thought the quarterbacks really did well, our receivers made some great catches. The defense broke on the ball well," said Jones.
Jones was quick to add though that they still have a lot to do before their first ball game on September 3 at home against Shiloh Christian.
"There's a big drop off between the first group and the last group we put out there," said Jones. "Ideally everyone is going to get better and they'll be less marked difference."
Both Bulldog quarterbacks senior Micah Fritsche and junior Daniel Stegall were quite effective in the 7 on 7.
"When we went out there and threw scale, I think we hit 5 in a row," Jones said.
Although keeping track of the score in a competitive 7 on 7 can be quite a challenge, word from the Bulldog sideline was they outscored the Rebels by 2.
The Bulldogs will continue with their FASDOGS strength and speed program daily and will have a 7 on 7 at Springdale on July 5 and 12.
