Greenwood head football coach Rick Jones has a problem every coach wants and rarely sees, two equally talented quarterbacks that could lead the Bulldog offense this fall.
Senior Micah Fritsche is the returning starter off the Bulldogs 8-3 season, while junior Daniel Stegall guided the junior varsity team last season.
Coach Jones hasn't named a starter out of the two, because he likes what he sees out of both of them.
I've told both of the guys, that I'm interested to see who moves the football team," said Jones. "Who is the guy that makes first downs? Who is the guy that makes big plays? Who is the guy that avoids the negative plays?"
Those are some are some of the things that Coach Jones is looking at to determine who the general on the field for the Bulldogs will be.
"They really have a lot of similarities," says Jones. "You could say one has a stronger arm or one has better feet, but both have good arms, both have good feet. The thing that is so interesting about Daniel and Micah is both are really bright guys."
Jones style of offense is something both quarterbacks like.
"It's real fast paced a lot of passing and that's good for quarterbacks and receivers," says Micah Fritsche.
Both quarterbacks credit Coach Jones and his coaching staff for all the development, especially in the passing game that they've had since last season.
"It's just crazy how far ahead I am throwing the ball," Fritsche said.
Both of these guys are team players and said, "they want to do whatever's best for the team" if they end up as quarterback or not as both of them look to start somewhere on the Bulldog team this season at some position.
Coach Jones is happy to have such athletes on his team.
"They're both quality quarterbacks," said Jones. "I'm glad I've got them, I know that."
When asked what the team goals are for this year both quarterbacks were quick to say, a conference and state championship.
"As a team I think we can go all the way," said Fritsche. "We're just coming together right now, learning how to do everything."
Daniel Stegall knows what the Bulldog fans will be wanting this fall.
"Hopefully we can impress you and keep playing to your standards, which is winning," said a smiling Stegall.
