The Greenwood Bulldog Varsity football team hit the practice field Monday morning to begin fall practice for the 2004 season in what was a sunny and hot morning.
The year the Arkansas Activities Association allowed Arkansas high schools to begin their fall practices a week earlier than in the past and most of the high school coaches took advantage of the extra week of practice time.
The Bulldogs had just over sixty players report for the first day of fall practice.
They spent the first two hours of the morning in team meetings with their position coaches and then hit the practice field outside and in the indoor field in the Multi-Purpose Building.
First year head football coach Rick Jones will use this first week of practice as a teaching week as he plans on installing the Bulldog offense and defense this week.
"We're going to have long practices, but they'll be more of a teaching type practice," said Jones. "In week to, we'll really get down to it a bit more."
This week the Bulldogs will have six our practices from 8:00 AM till 2:00 PM with Thursday being the first day in pads. The first days are just in shorts and helmets, which is a requirement by the Arkansas Activities Association.
Starting next week until the first day of school on August 19th, the Varsity Bulldogs will practice from 3:00 PM till 8:00 PM Monday-Friday.
All Greenwood practices are open if you want to watch the Bulldogs get ready for the 2004 season.
