   The Greenwood Fall Sports Booster Club last Tuesday night kicked off their 2004 membership drive as new head football coach Rick Jones spoke to the parents of this year’s high school football team, getting everyone fired up for the upcoming season.
   The Fall Sports Booster Club is an organization whose sole purpose is to support and complement the Athletic programs of Greenwood Schools. The members are comprised of parents, grandparents and interested supporters of the youth of Greenwood.
   Membership is open to anyone and is only $10.00 per year. The funds collected through the sell of memberships are earmarked for a Scholarship Fund and a scholarship is award to a male and female student athlete in each May.
   The membership card also entitles the holder to 10% off purchases from the Cloth Booth on T-shirts, hats and other fan-based merchandise and collectibles.
Active membership keeps you informed and involved and supports the student athletes. Active membership also makes you aware of program needs, and gives you a voice in how funds are allocated to support the activities and sports teams over and beyond what the School District provides.
   Examples of Booster Club purchases that have supplemented the athletic program:
$12,000-Computer aided video editing equipment that enhances coaching opportunities and provides the capability of viewing and editing game films.
$4,800-Salary stipend for summer weight program- (Booster Club funded the coach's salaries for 2 years, will now be included in the school districts budget).
$1,400-Sideline jackets for football team members.
$1,500-For field maintenance and the addition of an astro play coaches box.
$1,500-Each football season for the fireworks at each game.
$1,000-Annually for male and female student Athlete Scholarship.
   The booster club also pays for the football teams meals before games.
   The booster club is in need of a number of volunteers in a number of areas also for the upcoming season and financial donations are gladly accepted.
   The Fall Sports Booster Club asks that you keep the traditions of our Community well funded so the dreams of our youth can be a reality.
