The Bulldogs continue to roll through their season and move to 10-1 on the year winning 3 games over the weekend and claiming their second straight Mt. Home Tournament championship.

The Bulldogs opened up the tournament with host Mt. Home. The Bulldogs got ahead early scoring in the first three innings and cruised to the win. Daniel Ramsey went 2, Aaron Carter 2, and Chris Caudle 3.  Jr. Brennan Rogers kept with his torrid pace by collecting 3 hits during the contest.  Soph. Aaron Carter picked up his first varsity win. Bulldog pitchers collected 9 strike outs on the day. 

"It was a pretty good effort early in the game," said Bulldog head coach Randy Gardner.  "t's always tough after a long trip."
 
Game two vs Batesville:  The Bulldogs jumped out front early by collecting 3 unanswered runs the first 2 innings.  The Bulldogs however, left several stranded which kept the Pioneers in the game and ran into some defensive problems in the 5th.  Which allowed 3 unearned runs and gave the Pioneers the lead 4-3.  The Dogs answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning to tie it up and  went ahead for good off the bat of Daniel Ramsey.  Ramsey blasted a 3 run hr, his 3rd of the year to give the Bulldogs a cushion. 

Batesville wouldn't go away though cutting the lead to 1 before closer Kyle Pippin ended the threat to pick up the save.  Tony Sandifer picked up his 1st win on the year going 6 strong innings. Allowing only 1 earned run.  With k'd 4 with 0 walks and 6 hits.  Sandifer threw 54 strikes and only 19 balls. 

"It was an excellent job by Tony getting past the sloppy conditions on the mound," said Gardner.  "He pitched out of a couple of jams against a very good hitting Batesville squad.  It was also great to see Ramsey hit that homerun.  He struggled defensively today but made up for it with one swing of the bat."

"I felt we should have put them away while we had the chance but we let them hang around and it almost cost us," said Gardner.

Brennan Rogers had another 3 hit performance and Ramsey collected 3 RBI on the day.  "Both of these guys are putting good swings on good pitches everyday," Gardner said.
 
Game three vs Conway:  The Bulldogs really wanted this game with Conway as they had beat them pretty bad last summer and kind of rubbed it in their face.  That bad blood led to an inspired performance out of the Bulldogs. 

Sophomore lefty Garrett Sandifer got his 1st varsity start and made the most of it.  He pitched a complete game allowing only one unearned run after the game was well in hand.  He allowed only 4 singles while striking out 3. 

"He really competed out there today, said Gardner. "We knew he was capable of performing like he did.  Conway is a good hitting squad and he kept them off balance the entire game." 

The Bulldog offense kept up their torrid pace.  Hunter Staton collected 3 hits while scoring 4 runs.  Ramsey picked up a double and hr knocking in 4 while Rogers and Ethan Adams each had 2 hits and 2 RBI. 

"It's always great to know that you can win a tourney with quality teams," said Gardner.  "We wanted to get a look at some of our younger arms this weekend and they did a great job. If we continue to stay hungry we will continue to improve. Our team has big goals and I don't expect them to become satisfied until they are all accomplished."
