Greenwood (9-1, 18-3) wasted little time getting down to business with Morrilton Thursday afternoon jumping on Morrilton scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning of game one.
The Bulldogs looked posed to cruise to another victory, but on the second pitch from senior starting pitcher Micah Spahn that ball would be hit directly back to Spahn who couldn't react quick enough and was hit in the jaw with ball. Spahn would leave the game to receive medical attention and Mark Leon would take the mound for the Bulldogs.
The injury to Spahn visibly shook the usually relaxed Greenwood ball club and that would cause a number of very unusual miscues from the Bulldogs in the second inning. Morrilton would score 1 run in the bottom of the first and 3 in the bottom of the second after Greenwood added an additional run in the top of the second to be all tied at 4-4 in the third inning.
Micah Spahn returned to the ball field in the fourth inning and seeing Spahn back at the field settled the Dogs down and they began playing their game.
Greenwood would get the go ahead
run in the top of the sixth inning. Cory Allison came in to relieve Leon in the 6th and would strike out the Morrilton batter in the bottom of the 7th to give the Bulldogs the third out and the win.
Mark Leon was the winning pitcher
for the Bulldogs going 5 innings with 6 strike outs. Cory Allison pitched 2 innings of work. Casey Benincosa was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's, Mark Leon was 2 for 3 and Daniel Stegall was 2 for 3.

Having already weathered the game one storm the Bulldogs were again the cool, relaxed team going into game two of the double header.
Greenwood would score in 2 in the first, 2 in the second, 3 in the fourth and 1 in the sixth inning to shutout the Devil Dogs 8-0.
Brandon Dunn pitched a 2 hit shutout working all 7 innings for the Bulldogs. He posted 5 strike outs.
Morrilton who used every available pitcher they could find against the Bulldogs was hurting in that department and the Bulldog would take advantage of it.
The Bulldogs took 11 walks and one hit by the pitcher.
Jarrod Gordon the DH was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and Casey Benincosa posted a triple (Bunker Buster) and 1 RBI in game two.
