Greenwood (17-5, 7-1) head coach Craig Jones was a little uneasy on the way up to Siloam Springs (5-5, 3-5)knowing that the Panthers had swept Greenbrier a team the Bulldogs split with, while only scoring 3 runs in 15 innings of play.
He wouldn't have to worry long as the Bulldogs completely took Siloam Springs out of the game in the top of the 1st-inning scoring 8 runs.
After making short order of the Panthers batting lineup the Bulldogs would light up the scoreboard for 15 additional runs in the top of the 2nd-inning to take a 23-0 lead.
Coach Jones would get everyone in the dugout in the game during the final 3 innings of the mercy ruled 5 inning game as the Bulldogs would cruise to a record breaking 29-1 victory with the Bulldogs getting 24 hits in the game also another state record.
According the to Arkansas Activities Association State High School Baseball Record Book  online the most runs scored in a single game was 26 and the most hits 22 both were set in 1996 between Ridgecrest and Morrilton.
"Sometimes everything just goes your way and it did today," said Coach Craig Jones. "Every kid got to swing it, every kid got to play today. You like that, getting some kids to play that don't get to play very much."
Senior starting pitcher Mark Leon went all 5 innings for the Bulldogs with 6 strikeouts and allowing 4 hits.
Some of the highlights at bat during the first game were Jantzen Black who went 5 for 5 with a home run and 6 RBI's, which ties for second in the state record book for RBI's in a single game.
Joseph Piroutek was 1 for 1 with a grand slam home run for 4 RBI's. Ed Woods 2 for 2 in the game also found the outside of the outfield fence with a 3 RBI home run.
Tieler Driscoll was 3 for 3 with 4 RBI's, Travis Deer was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI and Dillan Black 1 for 1.
As the old saying goes, "second verse same as the first". That would hold true for the Bulldogs second game of the doubleheader against Siloam Springs as once again the bats where blazing for the Dogs in 19-5 mercy ruled 5-inning game which included 14 hits for the Bulldogs.
Senior Cory Allison took the mound in the second game and pitched the complete 5 innings with 8 strikeouts and allowing 6 hits.
Jantzen Black and Ed Woods both once again sent balls over the fence for home runs in the second game with Black going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and Woods 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Jason McDonald was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's and Daniel Stegall was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI's including a grand slam home run.
The Bulldogs for the night combined for 48 runs and 38 hits, which included 6 home runs, two that were grand slams.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their record breaking pace Friday as Morrilton (13-5, 6-4) comes to town for doubleheader conference action at 4:00.
